Ever seen the crimson welding machines in the welding section of Home Depot that appear to be a red tombstone? They are called Stick welding devices or shielded steel arc welding machines. For less than 300 dollars you can buy one of these and weld an array of things. What can you get for that price? You obtain a 225 amp A/C welder (alternating current) that may weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. As the the buzzing noise that alternating electric current makes when welding, these stay welders are also known as a “Buzz Box”.

Right close to these tombstone welders are tiny Lincoln wire welders. But they are not the same.

People seem to want the wire welders nowadays as the learning curve is shorter to weld with a cable welder. However the stick welder is better. ลวดเชื่อมเหล็กหล่อ That’s right I said far better. why? Because with 225 amps, not only is it capable of welding really thick materials like 1 inch thick. But is also with the capacity of welding thin gauge sheet steel as thin as .040″. That’s where the extra small 1/16″ stick electrodes can be found in handy. Through the use of 1/16″ electrodes and welding downhill, you could be amazed at just how thin you can go.

Shielded metallic arc welding is old school. It gets a bad rap. But in the fingers of a craftsman, stick welding is as good or better than any welding process for some jobs.

People who figure out how to weld with a mig device are often surprised to learn that shielded metal arc welding is still the choice for most pipeline and construction companies. It is the most robust welding procedure for all because stick welding can be carried out in the wind and on an array of materials. Because stick welding has been around so long, there are all sorts of different welding rods available for nearly every application. You can find rods designed for cutting and gouging, hardfacing, and even nickel and bronze rods for welding cast iron.
